And I present to you the final cut (well, the version screened at the Sundance Film Festival) of Morgan M. Morgansen’s Date with Destiny.
Enjoy.

…we were painting and Bear cuddled his way into the plastic covering on the couch…
I need you most when you aren’t here. I love you most when you are near. But in between is where you must be. Not here, not there, not quite anywhere but with me.
Across a stream and through a brook,
that is the road a traveller took.
To roam the lands from east to west,
to find the bride that fit him best.
While in a countryside far away,
He thought luck must be with him that fine day;
For he saw a beautiful maiden sitting in her tower
and he thought of all her wealth and power.
Love was what at first he had desired,
but now a different sort of plan transpired.
He would win her trust and take her heart,
and with all he could hold he would depart.
Stepping off his trusty steed,
He called to her and did mislead.
Her thoughts were of his kindly smile;
His charm at work to hide all that was vile.
She soon agreed to let him stay,
until he thought he should continue on his way.
But as soon as his foot stepped through her door,
the maiden’s hopes were lost for forever more.
Her heart began to love this man,
as if according to his foul plan.
So he asked for her to be his wife
Yes she said, thinking it a perfect life.
But the days went by and each that past,
Made his heart colder than the last.
And when the traveller thought he could take no more,
He took all her treasures and headed out the door.
The maiden found the tower bare of all that she possessed.
And her wounded heart would not let her rest,
until that evil man paid for what he’d done.
So after him she began to run.
When finally she reached the traveller and his load,
she struck him down upon the road.
She wanted to take his wretched life right there as he lay,
but she decided to make him pay some other way.
So the very next day at dawns first light,
She took him to the nearest town to set things right.
She sent him in front of a royal magistrate,
who believed her tale and deemed a dungeon as his fate.
The traveller looked over at his bride,
and thought to himself, “Why have I lied!
A life of love is what at first I had sought,
by my actions alone I will surely rot.”
